A few words about…
Let me introduce myself. My name is Florin and I am a part-time blogger, full-time passionate about information security. I used to work as an IT Infrastructure Engineer for about 4 years. During my IT career I managed to get certified as an MCSA, CompTIA Server+ and ITIL professional. I am also a member of BCS — The Chartered Institute for IT. After a couple of years, I decided to go into information security (the reasons are explained below). I am currently based in “sunny” London, UK.
I am also the co-founder of a London based translation agency. When I do not wear the security hat I go to gym or do volunteering. If you need to get in touch with me, please use the contact page or you can add me in your Google+ circle and we take it from there. But enough about me, let’s talk about this blog :-D.
If you are here then it means you want to find out why I am into information security and why I have started this blog. When I was writing my Masters’ degree thesis I found out something very disturbing. There had been cases where people had committed suicide because they had suffered an information security breach. They had been subject to identity theft or their credit card details had been compromised. You never expected that information security is so important to our lives, did you?! It then occurred to me that it was the responsibility of the information security community to make their voice better heard. Things like that should never happen. We should do everything we can to achieve that. The natural move was to start, you guess it, this blog.
